Who We Are
Courtside Furniture is a family-owned and operated furniture and mattress store on E. Main Street in Merrill, Wisconsin. Lee and Dottie Kusserow opened the original location in July of 1987. As the business grew, their two sons, Noel Bushor and Tony Kusserow, joined the team. Lee and Dottie retired in 2001 and handed the business over to Noel and Tony, who run it today.
Along the way, the family grew. Debbie Boman joined the sales team and worked her way up to assistant store manager. Kim Hehling came on shortly after and now helps head up customer service. More recently, Amy Staubs joined the sales floor. Together, we're a small crew, but we know our products, we know our customers, and we know this community.
Our Story
In 2007, twenty years into the business, we ran our first 'Over 80 Recliners' commercial. The line stuck because the message was simple and true: we always have more than 80 recliners on the floor at any time. The commercial reached folks all over central Wisconsin: Merrill, Wausau, Rhinelander, Schofield, Mosinee, Tomahawk, and as far away as Waupun. Customers came in, sat in a chair that fit them, and walked out with something they actually loved.
As the business grew, we needed more space. We opened a second showroom across the street, adding 10,000 square feet of floor space. Today, our two locations at 1022 and 1025 E. Main Street give customers over 20,000 square feet of furniture and mattresses to walk through and try in person.
